Hey Reddit, Looking to see if anyone has had similar experiences with Hyundai and hoping to get some advice. Just picked up a brand new 2024 Hyundai Sonata Limited Hybrid (~1,000 miles) at the end of May and last week while driving it threw a critical engine alert ("Check Hybrid Engine - Battery Management System Problem").
I'm currently in the market for hybrid sedan and down to 2 options. There is a 2022 Honda Accord Sport Hybrid and I got the dealer down to ~21.5k for it. It has 56,000 miles on it but has a clean car fax. I like it for Honda's reputation of reliability and wanting a car that can go to 200.
2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Test Drive: Efficiency Over Everything
Hey. I had my 2024 hybrid limited for a bit over month. About to reach 2000 miles! Long commute and I had s planned trip! Love it, I tested accord hybrid, Camry hybrid and even some SUVs and I loved it. I had before a 2018 hybrid sonata which I drove 30 k miles (bought used, traded in after almost 3 years). I loved the design on the new model and drove really familiar, I needed something.
The Sonata is probably the best sedan in its segment until the new Accord comes. It has a nice interior, the hybrid has good power and fuel economy. Hyundai hybrids are surprisingly reliable, so it should actually be fine with good maintenance. Exterior is subjective, but it's better than the Camry in every way except reliability and MPG.

Last week I bought the amazing 2021 Hyundai Sonata Limited, and I've been playing around with it a lot. My previous car was the 2018 Honda Accord Touring. It seems in some aspects I got spoiled, but in many other ways the Sonata is a better car. These are my gripes, that ALL can be added via software updates, but aren't there for whatever reason Hyundai wants to make up (some of these are.

2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Review
Hey, I own 2021 Sonata Hybrid Limited and it's an excellent choice if you are considering to buy an HEV. Very efficient for long distance driving. Since Hyundai's hybrid technology is a bit different than to Honda's or Toyota's. It's better on the highway than the local driving. Honda and Toyota's HEV tech works better locally. The infotainment system and interior design are superb. Just take.

2025 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited Reviews - Clara Blair
I will say that if you're concerned about long term reliability, absolutely make sure you follow the severe usage maintenance timeline in your owner's manual. I'm not sure what it is exactly for the '23 Sonata hybrid, but I have a '21 Elantra hybrid and the severe usage maintenance timeline has things like oil changes every 6 months or 3,750 miles, replacing the brake fluid every 2.

I just had a bunch of recall work done on my 2017 Sonata Hybrid SE. One of the items they replaced under recall was the Housing-Assembly-Generator (37390-2E930) aka Hybrid-Starter-Generator. This was a surprise to me because I didn't know it was even under recall. Was wondering if anyone else had their generator replaced by recall and wondering what was the problem with it.
