Hello everyone, I recently purchased a 2017 BMW 540i (G30) with 60,000 miles on it, it came with a full-service history from BMW. According to the iDrive system, all necessary services have been completed, including oil changes, microfilter replacements, brake fluid service, and spark plug change.
When that 3-liter engine was moved to the G30, suddenly BMW required LL-12e oil only available from BMW or a few European brands. Oil changes, even DIY ones, became more expensive - rising from $60 to $90 for oil and filter. The owner's manual even addresses it saying that one should not use more than 1/2 liter of LL.
