From August 1960, BMW offered the markedly sportier BMW 700 Sport with an even more powerful engine generating 40 hp alongside the basic model.

Starting in autumn 1964, the coupé was cloaked in the extended body. The 700 also retains its numbers-matching engine and is accompanied by a "Birth Certificate" from BMW Classic.
