The nurture room environment, being both calm and positive, helps children to relax and feel special while focusing on their tasks. Our nurture room has been a great success. During its first year, 47 children received some form of nurture session/ support.

That means we've impacted 23 per cent of the whole school in a positive way. Our Nurture room is designed to be a bridge between home and school; a place where children can feel safe and secure and therefore develop their individual needs further. Nurture support is not limited to the nurture room- All Saints Primary School is making great progress towards embedding the six Nurture Principles and practice at a whole school level, providing appropriate support for all pupils attending the school.

The Principles of Nurture: Children's learning is understood developmentally. After engaging with the Special Education Support Services, they heard about a programme based on nurture and, in September 2017, the primary school opened the doors to its first nurture room. The Nurture Room offers our pupils the opportunity to experience early nurture experiences, giving them the skills to do well at school, to make friends and to deal more confidently and calmly with the demands of school life.

Pupils access support in the Nurture Room for between one and four school terms.
