Master Calla Lily Plant Care: Essential Growing Instructions for Healthy Blooms

Calla lilies, with their elegant trumpet-shaped blooms, add timeless beauty to any space—whether grown indoors or in garden beds. Proper calla lily plant care ensures vibrant, long-lasting flowers and robust growth.

Optimal Growing Conditions

Calla lilies thrive in well-draining soil and bright, indirect sunlight. Place them near east or west-facing windows, avoiding harsh afternoon sun. Maintain daytime temperatures between 65–80°F and humidity levels around 50–60%. Water only when the top inch of soil feels dry to prevent root rot.

Watering and Fertilizing

Consistent moisture is key—water thoroughly but allow drainage. Use a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season to support strong stems and blooms. Reduce feeding in fall to prepare plants for dormancy.

Pest Control and Maintenance

Keep an eye out for aphids, spider mites, and mealybugs. Wipe leaves with a damp cloth or treat with insecticidal soap if infestations occur. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continuous blooming and trim yellowing foliage promptly.

With the right care—balanced light, proper watering, and timely feeding—calla lilies reward you with stunning, long-lasting flowers. Follow these essential calla lily plant care instructions and enjoy a flourishing, elegant display in your home or garden.
