Origami, the ancient art of paper folding, has captivated people worldwide with its ability to transform simple sheets into intricate designs. One of the most practical and satisfying origami projects is creating a box, especially one that can fit A4 paper. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you create your own origami A4 box.

Before we dive into the steps, ensure you have a square piece of paper. For an A4 box, you'll need a square that's 210mm x 210mm. Traditional origami paper is perfect for this, but you can also use regular A4 paper by cutting it into a square.

Preparing Your Paper
Start by laying your square paper flat, colored side facing down. This will ensure your box has a neat, colorful exterior.

Next, fold your paper in half diagonally to form a triangle. Then, fold it in half again along the other diagonal. You should now have an 'X' crease on your paper. Unfold these last two folds, but keep the 'X' creases in mind as they'll be crucial later.
Creating the Base

Fold your paper in half horizontally, then unfold it. Now, fold it in half vertically and unfold it again. You should have a '+' crease on your paper.
Bring the opposite corners of your paper together, using the '+' creases as guides. You should now have a kite shape. Fold the top and bottom points of the kite to the center line. You've just created the base of your box!
Forming the Sides

Fold the top layer of each side inward, using the existing creases as guides. You should now have a pocket on each side.
Fold the bottom edge of each side upward, tucking it into the pocket you just created. This will form the sides of your box. Your box should now stand upright on its own.
Closing and Finishing Your Box

To close the box, fold the top flaps inward. You can tuck them inside the box or let them overlap, depending on the look you prefer.
For a neat finish, gently pull the sides of the box outward to square the base and top. Your origami A4 box is now complete and ready to hold your precious items!

Origami is a rewarding hobby that offers endless possibilities. Once you've mastered the A4 box, why not try other box designs or explore more complex origami projects? Happy folding!
