Yeah, you have to start with something simple.
Generaly there is no way you will make a handheld if you dont know any ASM.

Yeah most of games are playd in full screen.
There is basically no good point in using MFC then.
DirectX will do good.
Also forget about using vb in engine development.
I would olso not recommend using vb for anything unless you olready kno... |

Making it simple you want to use typical c, c++ fetures with the syntax symilar to basic.
Are you planing to work on this till the end or you just want to make the theory ?
Iam not into language design so my questions may sound quite stupi... |
