I know... things are really starting to pick up. Hopefully I'll be able to work out all the Nvidia bugs.

Posted - 2/5/2006 10:32:43 PM | I found a bug where sometimes when I try to unequip and then re-equip my engine, the game won't let me re-equip it. After that happens, the game (and sometimes the whole system) crashes every time I try to view the status window for that ship. I managed to do this with three different ships (including that lvl 95 demo one), all of which are now unplayable. I'm using a P4 2.4 GHz with 1 gig of RAM and a Radeon 9600 if it helps, although it seems kind of doubtful that this bug is hardware specific.
I also noticed a variety of significant balance issues with various aspects of the game, but I'm guessing that you aren't worrying too much about balance in the alpha stage . . . and despite those issues I found what there is of the game so far, fun. Keep up the good work!

Also, if you could include a list of the balance issues you encountered, I would appreciate it. I'm familiar with some of the balance issues, but I would like to know what you've run into.
Thanks,
Rick

Also, some kind of transition effect when you are travelling between the jump gates would make it look a lot more polished and professional.

Pardon my ignorance, but I don't know how left handed people use a keyboard/mouse combo. What keys would be appropriate for lefties?
Thanks

Some observations:
- the overview/radar map in the corner was a little off from the main screen
- the ship movement felt "sluggish", it might help to taper the acceleration/deceleration
- it would be nice if there was a little more variety in equipment icons, I found it a bit tedious hovering over each item at the arms dealer to figure out what it was
Overall, quite impressive. I actually found your game while doing a net search for space RPGs. I'm starting work on my own game and have been trying out various games of similar type to see what I like and don't like. So far, your game has come closest to being "perfect" for my taste. Its great to see that other people out there want a good space RPG too. :)

Posted - 6/13/2006 3:01:35 PM | I have played a little of the game, but i don't like how you have to constantly drain your fuel to keep going. I think you should let the ship drift through space without burning fuel, makes it more realistic and fun because you don't have to return to a base to refuel as much, thus you can save that money for upgrades. But keep the brake button on the controls, because I really hate haveing to do a 180 to stop like on other space games.
other than that i can't think of anything else to add/change about the game other than adding animation to the jumpgates but that has already been mentioned.I will keep playing and let you know if i find anything else.
P.S. PLEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEE don't let this game go belly up like all the other games i found, it is REALLY hard to find a good free game on the internet... ESPECIALLY a good space based game.
By the way, I am known to make LONG drawn out posts, but it is also known that I only post on game fourms, and only for games I like. But still it is a VERY rare occation that i post anything anywhere.

Posted - 6/16/2006 6:17:21 PM | Sorry I haven't posted for a while... I've been busy and not as good about keeping ES alive. I let my GD+ membership expire, so I'll have to re-up before I can post another version.
As for the sluggishness of your ship, you do start out a little sluggish, but that goes away after a few engine upgrades. I've actually toned down the initial sluggishness quite a bit.
Sorry I've been neglecting ES. I'll need to get back on it soon.

P.S. If anyone from GameDev.net is reading this... it is SOOOOOO lame that you don't accept credit cards.
