ARTHAUS · RECORDED CONSTRUCTION ON A 3D CANVAS

From the first mark

Watch A Beacon Against the Blue build from its unpainted ground. Colour and simulated paint relief accumulate together on a GPU-rendered 3D canvas as the camera turns.

30 seconds · all16,366 stored marks, in their recorded order. The first120 appear individually; later frames group marks to accelerate the replay. The amber outline is a current-mark locator, not additional paint or a physical brush.

It is a replay of the making

The first frame contains no paint commands. Broad early deposits establish colour and structure, then smaller recorded marks build detail. Every intermediate state comes from applying the actual stored commands. The movie does not crossfade between paintings or invent a replacement stroke sequence.

Four real replay checkpoints. The final unlit pixels match the canonical artwork exactly.

What is being simulated

This version rasterizes an actual indexed 3D canvas mesh. As stored marks are applied, both its colour texture and stroke-derived height field update; surface normals and lighting update with them. Thickness is an explicit material assumption. The original colour already includes painted highlights and shadows.

This is recorded playback of the existing AI-guided native painting, not a new AI deciding strokes live. It does not simulate a physical hand or a continuous brush-tip trajectory. The proof is the recorded commands, their ordered replay and the exact final canonical image—not the appearance of a moving tool.

The original artwork, native stroke program, earlier films and research artifacts remain unchanged. Historical material, artist-specific hand and aesthetic preference are not validated by this visualization.
