A 1980s home looks neither new or old-but in-between. Also, unlike mid-century and '70s houses, there is no clearly defined retro-style for the eighties popularized in movies and design magazines yet. Although it was a prosperous time overall, a million fewer houses were built than during the the peak of household formation for baby boomers in the seventies.

While in reality, 1970 was 50 years ago. I came across this the other day while showing a few small homes to a couple for a starter home. We looked at a new build in the country, a home that was 10 years old, and one that was built in 1980.

In this market?!) and a lot of houses in my area are in this dated 70/80's contemporary style (I've also heard it called the Shed style. Let me know if there's a better name). It isn't my favorite in terms of aesthetics or curb appeal but I was curious if anyone knew of some resources for modernizing or making the most of a home in this.
