Living In A Mansion Reddit

It'd be nice to live in a mansion as I might want to live in a it through making a living by writing novels and children's books. I could live in a proper, wealthy condition where I would have a lot of stacks and I won't need to worry about dealing with financial struggles. So, I had a mansion for a while.

My wife was the interim president of a university, and one of the perks was that they let us live in a seven million dollar house. The main pro? Entertaining. Entertaining was awesome.

You could call up eight friends and say "Hey, want to come get drunk and play board games? Living in a mansion would kinda suck. I always used to dream of living in a mansion when I was a kid, but now that I'm older, they've lost their appeal.

I feel like it'd be fun for the first few days, exploring and such, but then it'd just get lonely, and creepy. I'd feel like i was in The Shining or something. All that empty house.

It was the kind of house you see on mtv cribs. I've lived in my own now in a normal 1400 square foot house. I can confirm that living in a mansion is way overhyped.

We had rooms in the house we wouldn't see for months and they were just a waste of space and money. You just need a bed and a solid kitchen in my eyes. Big mansion houses back then weren't designed for the inhabitants living there, they were designed for smoothly entertaining guests.

Everything was built to take guests through an "impressive entryway - receiving parlor - dining room - smoking/conversation parlor" pipeline while displaying the hosts wealth and minimizing the visibility of. The huge towering apartment blocks that allow subletting, holidayers, airbnb etc are not for me but the overall, I'd rather live in an apartment than a house on a separate block of land.
