Krishna's Sticky Smile

Story illustration

Little Krishna loved yummy, yellow butter! His mommy, Yashoda, made it fresh every day. She put it in a big pot, way up high on a shelf. "Too high for Krishna!" she thought.

But Krishna was a clever boy. He saw the butter and his tummy rumbled. "Mmm, yummy!" he thought. He found his friends, little monkeys and tiny cowherd boys. "Let's get the butter!" he giggled.

Krishna climbed on a stool, then on his friend's back! Up, up, up! He reached the pot. He dipped his tiny fingers in. Squishy, yummy butter! He ate a big glob. He shared some with his friends, who also made happy, sticky faces.

Soon, Mommy Yashoda came. She saw the empty pot and all the sticky, happy faces. Krishna had butter on his nose and cheeks! She couldn't be mad. She just smiled and gave her little butter thief a big hug. What a sweet, naughty boy!
