Understanding the Story of Elijah
Elijah, a prophet of Israel, is a significant figure in the Old Testament. His story, as told in 1 Kings 19:1-18, is one of faith, courage, and obedience. After a great victory over the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, Elijah flees from Queen Jezebel's wrath and finds himself in the wilderness. Exhausted and despairing, he sits under a broom tree when an angel appears to him, providing food and water.
