Unveiling the Gretsch G6118T SGR Players Edition Anniversary
The G6118T SGR Players Edition Anniversary is a double-cutaway electric guitar that embodies Gretsch's classic aesthetics and tone. It is a part of the Players Edition series, which is designed to offer professional-grade instruments with enhanced features and superior playability.
Body and Aesthetics
The guitar features a chambered mahogany body with a maple top, providing a comfortable weight and excellent resonance. The body is finished in a sleek, glossy Black or White with Gold hardware, giving it a timeless and elegant appearance. The double-cutaway design allows for easy access to the higher frets, making it ideal for lead players.
The G6118T SGR also sports a bound, 12-inch radius rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets, a Graph Tech® NuBone® nut, and a comfortable, fast-playing maple neck. The headstock is adorned with a vintage-style Gretsch logo and features a set of die-cast tuning machines for reliable tuning stability.
Electronics and Hardware
At the heart of the G6118T SGR lies a pair of High Sensitive Filter'Tron™ pickups, which deliver the classic Gretsch tone – rich, warm, and articulate. These pickups are controlled by a three-position pickup selector switch and a master volume and tone control knob, providing a wide range of tonal possibilities.
The guitar also features a Gretsch®-designed Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and a Bigsby® B60 vibrato tailpiece, ensuring excellent intonation and sustain. The combination of these hardware components results in a guitar that is not only visually striking but also performs exceptionally well.
Players Edition Enhancements
The Players Edition series is characterized by its enhanced features, designed to improve playability and performance. The G6118T SGR is no exception, featuring a comfortable, fast-playing maple neck with a thin "U" profile and a compound radius fingerboard, which makes bending strings easier and more comfortable.
Additionally, the guitar comes equipped with Gretsch's new die-cast tuning machines, which provide improved tuning stability and a smoother tuning experience. These enhancements, combined with the guitar's chambered body and comfortable weight, make the G6118T SGR an ideal choice for both studio and stage use.
