The R 1250 GSA typically commands a higher price tag than the R 1250 GS, reflecting its additional features and capabilities. The price difference can vary depending on the specific options and packages chosen. I also thought the difference in engine performance between the 1200 and 1250 was significant enough to justify me upgrading to the GSA.

Those were the two primary reasons I went with the GSA but if you don't need the added fuel capacity you're better off with a GS. Both the R 1250 GS and GSA are powered by the same 1254cc boxer-twin engine, delivering a robust 136 horsepower and 105 lb. While BMW made no mention of it, I noticed differences between the outgoing 2018 R 1200 GSA and the new 1250 GSA in respect to wheelbase, steering head angle, and trail.

The GS is a much more nimble ADV bike than the GSA. (Still big and heavy but a very noticeable difference.). I think you would only have regrets if you love the giant tank on the GSA or didn't really have the disposable income for the difference to buy a new bike.

These were the R1250 platform, a significant engine upgrade from the R1200. More importantly, BMW revised both the GS and the GSA in lock-step, doing a bodywork and electroncis update on the GSA at the same time that they updated the drivetrain. The R1250 generation saw identical frames and drivetrains between both GS and GSA.
