For Toyota Surf enthusiasts seeking enhanced performance and efficiency, EGR delete installations offer a powerful solution. This modification alters the exhaust gas recirculation system to optimize engine breathing and reduce particulate emissions, delivering a more responsive driving experience while meeting modern environmental standards.
The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system recycles a portion of exhaust gases back into the engine’s intake to lower combustion temperatures and reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. However, this system can restrict airflow, reduce engine efficiency, and sometimes increase emissions over time. An EGR delete kit removes or reconfigures this valve, allowing cleaner, more efficient combustion. On a Toyota Surf, this upgrade enhances throttle response, improves low-end torque, and supports better fuel economy—especially under city driving conditions.
Eliminating the EGR system on your Toyota Surf delivers tangible performance and environmental advantages. Drivers report smoother acceleration, increased engine responsiveness, and a more dynamic driving feel. Additionally, reduced exhaust restrictions mean the engine runs cooler and more efficiently, contributing to lower emissions and improved fuel consumption. These benefits make EGR deletion a popular choice for those prioritizing both power and eco-conscious operation without sacrificing reliability.
Installing an EGR delete on a Toyota Surf is typically straightforward and best performed by a qualified mechanic. Ensure the correct parts are used—pre-fabricated delete kits are widely available and compatible with most Surf models. Post-installation, monitor engine performance and emissions to confirm optimal results. Note that while EGR deletion improves efficiency, it’s important to maintain regular servicing to preserve long-term engine health and compliance with local emission regulations.
EGR delete Toyota Surf modifications offer a compelling blend of enhanced performance, improved fuel economy, and reduced emissions—ideal for drivers seeking a more engaging and responsible driving experience. With professional installation and proper maintenance, this upgrade can significantly elevate your Surf’s capabilities while supporting environmental stewardship.
Hey everyone I just got done deleting the Egr on my 1997 hilux surf with the 3.0td and factory inter cooler. I used the blockoff kit from vanlife northwest and installed an egt temp probe on the exhaust plate. I cleaned a ton of carbon buildup out of the intake manifold and intake ports.
I bled. Just out of curiosity out of all of you who have disabled the egr valve, whether by cable ties/ball bearing or by going down the blanking plate route, how many of you are still running that particular truck or more importantly that head? Also did you actually record any real life benefits? Your comments as always gratefully received. In this video I show how I deleted my EGR system on my 1999 Land Cruiser Prado, using my EGR delete kit.
The full kit is $125 shipped to USA or Canada. 1st EGR delete Jump to Latest 11K views 47 replies 7 participants last post by 75aces Oct 18, 2024 L3G1T Discussion starter. Includes: 1x Alloy 1KZ EGR Blank 1x Mild Steel 1KZ. EGR delete, I don't have much to say on that since I don't have experience with it. As for the EGT install, i bought an Auto Meter EGT probe and gauge and had a diesel mechanic install it.
They took off the Inter cooler and drilled into the exhaust manifold, pre turbo. Got it done like 6 months ago and it's been great + super helpful. 2. Now you can see the EGR Valve, you will need a 12mm socket, Ratchet and extension to remove this. 3.
Remove these 2 x bolts 1st for the pipe above the EGR valve. 4. Now undo the other 4 x 12mm nuts and bolts from the EGR valve and unplug this from the wiring loom, this can now be removed.
5. This is now what you will find.
