What Colors Attract Squirrels? Unveiling the Sciuridae's Chromatic Preferences While research is ongoing, current understanding suggests squirrels are most attracted to blue and yellow and generally repelled by red. This preference likely stems from evolutionary adaptations related to foraging and predator avoidance. Understanding Squirrel Vision: A Quick Primer To understand what colors.
Squirrel behavior around red objects When red objects are associated with food, squirrels may exhibit increased interest. For example, red bird feeders filled with seeds can attract squirrels, not because of the color itself, but because the squirrels associate the feeder with a food reward. Their behavior in these cases is motivated by hunger rather than any preference for the color red.

Whether or not this theory is actually true has not been thoroughly investigated, however. What Colors Can Squirrels See?
