The original wiring has switch-leg pair (hot-switch & neutral) in as well as similar out, so there should be a second light operating off the same switch. If there is no other light, you should identify which wire pair is live and which wire pair is dead. The light gets a hot and a neutral.

By giving you separate neutrals, it gives you the versatility of being able to put the fan and light on separate circuits, or other circumstance where you'd need separate neutrals. In your case, and in most instances, both devices share a neutral - the two hots (red and black) are switched, the neutral is not. So attempted to fit a new bathroom light and completely stuck, the new light only requires a live and neutral wire and there was only 2 wires Connected to the old light however no indication for it,so I have a blue wire,a red wire coated in brown and a black wire coated in brown, which is N and.

If your light fixture has only two cores (live and neutral), connect the live wire to the switch live terminal and the neutral wire to the neutral terminal. Ensure that all earth cores are connected together in the same terminal. If you're unsure, consult a professional electrician to ensure safety and compliance with local regulations.

Electrical Replacing Light Pendant with Light Fitting - Live and Neutral Backwards? Anonymous user 9 March 2024 - 3.26 PM Hi guys, Recently moved house and have noticed that the current light fitting in the bathroom isn't IP44 rated, and isn't flush against the ceiling, so I'm looking to replace it. The fix: learn how light looks at different color temperatures It is important to familiarize yourself with how light looks at different color temperatures. Have you ever been to a public bathroom and noticed that they had the wrong light bulbs? The lighting was too yellow and dim, or perhaps way too bright and harsh?

Sounds like you have a live and neutral feed and switch wire at the light position, if this is the case and you have connected the neutral with the switch wire this will cause the circuit to trip. The switch on the left is to turn the light on/off and the switch on the right is to turn the fan on/off. There appears to only be two walnuts only.

Does it have neautral wiring? At some point this week I need to tackle installing an extractor fan in our bathroom as it currently doesn't have one. The directions state it needs a live, neutral and a switched live feed as it has a timer, from the lighting ring.
