Remember about the context

In every language, there are words that mean different things depending on the context. When starting to learn from scratch, some people have the ambitious idea of learning the vocabulary "one by one" from a dictionary. Hardly anyone is able to actually learn the vocabulary in this way, and even if the plan is successful and such a person is able to recite a list of words from A to Z, they will not know when and how to use the vocabulary in everyday life. A much better way is to use authentic English materials, or, at a slightly lower level, with text or audio materials prepared for study. Then we learn words and phrases in context, we know when to use them and we shape linguistic sensitivity. How to learn English? Remembering the context!

Repetition is key

Learning each new skill takes practice. It doesn't matter if it's learning to ride a bike, playing the guitar or learning English. We have two types of memory in our brain: short-term and long-term. In order to consolidate the vocabulary, i.e. make it transfer from our short-term memory to the long-term one, we even need a few weeks! By spending, for example, three hours learning English at home, we think we have a lot of new vocabulary. The next day, it turns out that we don't remember most of the words we learned yesterday. It doesn't mean we've wasted three hours! It's definitely better to learn a smaller amount of vocabulary that you will repeat regularly than trying to remember as many words as possible at once. This method is ineffective, often counterproductive, and negatively affects our motivation to learn. How to learn English? Practicing the language often.

Improve your memory

Learning English is closely related to memory, both short-term and long-term. Memory plays a significant role in the process of learning English. Memory, just like muscles, can be exercised. However, exercising memory will do little if we are chronically tired and don't care what we eat. First of all, we need to get enough sleep. If our sleep is less than 6 hours, we may start to have trouble focusing during the day. Secondly, you should ensure that your body is supplied with the right amount of vegetables and healthy fats. It is also worth limiting simple sugars, i.e. various types of sweets, and fast food. Eating "by heart" includes walnuts, fatty fish or broccoli.
Once we take care of sleep and proper food, it is worth developing new habits. Lots of people try to do several things at once and therefore don't focus 100% on one task. Multitasking, i.e. multitasking, does not really speed up anything. Doing many things at once negatively affects our brain, and some studies suggest that we reduce our productivity by up to 40%! Multitasking is not only about doing multiple things at once, but also switching between tasks. We will perform all tasks much more efficiently and faster, doing everything sequentially and accurately. To further improve our memory, we can play online games that develop our brain.
