| Grace Church of Rootstown October 4th Missionary Spotlight Missionary of the Month - October 2026 Jim and Kathy Tanner In 1966 and 1968, Jim and Kathy worked at a summer camp program called Cedine Bible Camp in Spring City, Tennessee. They had the summer off from New Tribes Bible Institute and volunteered to be camp counselors. They were engaged. Kathy worked in the girls’ village and Jim in the boys. In July of that year, they borrowed a staff member’s car and drove to Greenville, SC to get married. Upon their return, they worked in the camp kitchen for the rest of the summer. In 1968, Jim and Kathy were between semesters of their mission training and served there a second summer. They recently received notice that the camp was celebrating its 80th Anniversary, and they volunteered to help out in the kitchen preparing food for about 400 people. After serving at the camp, they headed to Sneedville, TN to attend a long-supporting church, where Jim had the opportunity to deliver the morning message. Jim and Kathy had a beautiful drive through parts of Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina, and they arrived safely home with hearts full of praise for all the blessings during that weekend. Please see Jim and Kathy’s most recent prayer letter on the mission table for this fascinating story.
