A life-long surfer, Andy propped a 1980s board next to the front door to greet guests. The Lake House sign, found floating in the lake, was gifted to the homeowners by the neighborhood historian. A few weeks ago, I shared a little bit about Project Mountain Lake in an Interior Design Studio Week in Review post.

At the time, I had just sent revised floor plans to the clients for the remodel project of their 1980's mountain, lakeside vacation home that they recently purchased. A Home that hugs Pewaukee Lake conjures up a certain vision, an aesthetic of the lakefront lifestyle. Outdoor dining areas.

But this house wasn't it. Built during the 1980s, the 4,400. A couple bought a house on Lake Windsor to turn their dream of lake living into a reality, but the spacious property needs lots of work.

Dave and Jenny are eager to turn this massive project into. Even with a cumbersome 1980's design and unwelcoming facade, they knew it would be the perfect place for their family to spend long summer days at the lake. Despite the dated touches, this Mountain View Shores house quickly became a favorite destination for Sheryl, Ed and their three children.

This cozy Missouri lake cabin features an open living area with large windows, a loft bedroom, and plenty of natural light, offering potential for year. This Lake Washington house built in the 1980s needed some updates. Designer Shannon Adamson updated the layout, added a new palette, and gave it a refresh.

A 1980s home looks neither new or old-but in-between. Also, unlike mid-century and '70s houses, there is no clearly defined retro-style for the eighties popularized in movies and design magazines yet. Although it was a prosperous time overall, a million fewer houses were built than during the the peak of household formation for baby boomers in the seventies.
