I'm running out of space for plugging stuff inside outlets in the bathroom. I only have 1 GFCI outlet in the bathroom. If i use a regular extender and plug it in the outlet, would it still be safe? It may seem like a dumb question but I'm concerned about moisture from the shower's steam getting in the extender and shorting something.

New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. We want to get a bidet. The only outlet in the bathroom is about two feet above the toilet.

Some bidets that we're looking at do not have long enough power cords to reach that, others do. Everywhere I look, people say you shouldn't use an extension cord with a bidet. I have not been able to get a clear answer on why.

I even called a plumber, who gave me an extremely vague answer about it not. Since we rent, is there any safe alternative to having the outlet modified? I know that haircare appliances draw a lot of juice and need to run directly into the wall, but would an outlet extender in the remaining receptacle (e.g. something like one of these guys) work for the two toothbrushes? Bathroom outlet splitter? I live in an apartment and the master bathroom only has 1 outlet. I'd like to add some kind of splitter that can support more things plugged into it, but I know this can be dangerous. Is there a product that would be safe for me to use?

Best solution for moving/extending an original bathroom outlet that will be blocked by new cabinets? Asking for advice from people who may know more specifics about electrical wiring in bathrooms. I have a GFCI outlet in my kitchen where I would like to plug in more than two things.

I was thinking I could just add a multi-outlet adapter to one of the outlets, or maybe a short 1->3 plug extension cord for my purposes. I am doing a bathroom remodel and hope to add a few more outlets around the vanity for better functionality. My current circuit: 20 amp running from breaker box to 2nd floor guest bath where it supplies one traditional GFCI outlet on vanity top.
