Creative Thanksgiving Decorating Ideas with Paper
Thanksgiving is a time to gather, give thanks, and create lasting memories. While traditional decorations like pumpkins and fall foliage are always a hit, incorporating paper into your Thanksgiving decor can add a unique, personal touch. Here are some creative and eco-friendly Thanksgiving decorating ideas using paper.
Table Settings
Set a beautiful table with paper napkins, placemats, and even paper table runners. You can find Thanksgiving-themed paper products at most stores, or get crafty and make your own. For a DIY touch, try making paper pumpkins or turkeys to use as place cards.
Paper Napkin Folding
- Turkey Napkins: Fold napkins into the shape of a turkey with a paper feather fan for the tail.
- Pumpkin Napkins: Fold napkins into pumpkin shapes and add a green paper stem.
- Leaf Napkins: Fold napkins into leaf shapes and use them as both napkins and table decorations.
Paper Garlands and Banners
Create festive paper garlands and banners to hang around your home. You can use fall-colored paper and cut out shapes like leaves, acorns, and turkeys. String them together with twine or ribbon for a charming Thanksgiving display.

Paper Leaf Garlands
Make a paper leaf garland by cutting out leaf shapes from fall-colored paper, punching a hole at the top of each leaf, and stringing them onto a piece of twine. You can also add mini clothespins to the garland and clip on photos or notes of what you're thankful for.
Paper Centerpieces
Create a stunning Thanksgiving centerpiece using paper. Here are a few ideas:
Paper Pumpkin Centerpiece
Stack several paper pumpkins in varying sizes and colors to create a tall, eye-catching centerpiece. Add a few paper leaves or flowers around the base for extra flair.
Paper Feather Wreath
Make a paper feather wreath by cutting out feathers from fall-colored paper and hot-gluing them onto a Styrofoam wreath form. Add a few paper leaves or berries for a touch of color.
Paper Place Cards
Create personalized place cards for your Thanksgiving guests using paper. You can write each person's name on a paper leaf, pumpkin, or turkey, and attach it to their plate or glass.
Paper Thanksgiving Chain
Make a paper Thanksgiving chain by cutting out strips of paper and linking them together to form a chain. Each link can represent something you're thankful for. As your guests arrive, have them add a link to the chain and share what they're thankful for.
Paper Thanksgiving Table Runner
Create a unique Thanksgiving table runner using paper. You can use fall-colored paper and cut out shapes like leaves, pumpkins, and turkeys. Arrange the shapes on a piece of cardboard or foam board to create a one-of-a-kind table runner.
Incorporating paper into your Thanksgiving decor is an affordable, eco-friendly, and creative way to celebrate the holiday. Whether you're making paper napkins, garlands, or centerpieces, these paper decorating ideas are sure to impress your guests and add a touch of warmth to your Thanksgiving gathering.
