How to Affix a Mezuzah The mezuzah is affixed to the right side of the door as one enters a room. In other words, if your door swings open from hallway into bedroom, the mezuzah would be nailed to the right. Put one at each end of the top of your door frame, at least 2-4 inches away from the door trim, and 2-4 inches above the door trim.

You don't want your fabric to hang so closely that it makes it difficult to open and close the door. For Passover, you may want to put up a mezuzah on your door. A mezuzah is a small box that contains a scroll with a prayer on it.

The scroll is placed inside the mezuzah and then the mezuzah is either attached to the doorframe or placed inside a small opening in the door. Why do Jews affix a mezuzah to the doorpost of a home? The custom of affixing a mezuzah to the doorpost fulfills the biblical commandment: "You shall write them upon the doorposts of thy house and upon thy gates" (Deuteronomy 6:9). The mezuzah distinguishes a Jewish home and is a visible sign and symbol to all those who enter that a sense of Jewish identity and commitment exists in that.

As you recite the blessing, keep in mind that it applies to all the mezuzahs you will presently affix in your home. See: Which Rooms Require a Mezuzah? See: Where Do I Put the Mezuzah? If you can read and understand the original Hebrew, say it in Hebrew. Otherwise, you can say it in any language you understand.

Here's the Hebrew text. The second week in March is when I began hearing the Holy Spirit say, "Place My Blood on Your Door Posts!" At first, I didn't think it any different than other times the Lord's impressed upon me to do this. I was obedient and did as instructed, anointing myself, as well as the door posts of my home, pleading the Blood of Jesus over all.

In fact, the Zohar and Midrash explicitly correlate the blood on the doorpost of the first Passover to the mezuzah: "A man builds a house and G-d says to him, 'Write My Name and put it on your door (as a mezuzah), and you will sit inside your house and I will sit outside your door and protect you'. Nearly 2500 years of world history took place before the Passover, and there have been 3500 years of history since then, but if you were to consider the Passover's place in the Bible, only 5% of it is dedicated to events that happened before Passover, while the rest of the Bible nearly 95% of it, is dedicated to events that did and will. If you would like to participate, cover your door frame in red for Passover this year (April 8-16).
