Facts

  • Transport 4,900 students every school day.
  • Travel more than 445,000 miles each year.
  • Complete more than 50 routes to schools daily.
  • Service approximately 1,000 field trips annually (including vans).

Each employee of the Transportation Department is a vital member of an organization committed to excellence. It’s important to recognize that transporting students is about much more than simply taking children to and from school.

Maintaining the district’s exemplary safety record is an ongoing challenge—one that every team member must be ready to take on. The men and women responsible for the safety of Sharyland ISD students are highly trained professionals who take their jobs seriously. Bus drivers perform a wide range of duties, including operating the bus and all related equipment in a safe and efficient manner, conducting pre-trip inspections, managing student behavior, and keeping the bus clean and orderly.

It takes a special kind of individual to meet the tremendous responsibilities placed on a school bus driver. For this reason, Sharyland ISD takes great care in hiring only the most qualified candidates.
