CalCOFI 9507JD CTD Date (Re)Processing Notes

Summary: The single set of primary sensors: temp, cond, & O2 worked well this
cruise and no replacements were required. All sensors were on their first cruise since
being serviced & calibrated. The O2 sensor on the first two stations was not working
optimally but by cast 003. It appears to have "conditioned" itself. Cruise-average
oxygen values for the two stations may be significantly off. The Sta-average oxygen
values should be better. But be sure to examine the bottle O2 measurements for the
first two stations if needing the best oxygen measurements.
Agreement with the bottle samples was very good so the r-squares were low on O2s.

Software: DOS Datcnv(Seasoft exe), running in a Windows XP virtual machine on Windows 7.
Additional Seasoft processing done using v7.23.2 SBE Data Processing. Since the no sensors were
changed, only one .xmlcon file was used in the Derive module.
Fluorometer sensitivity was changed on cast 048 and used for the remainder of the cruise. Two
fluorometer voltage vs bottle chla regressions were plotted. Cast 001-047 and cast 048-066
were run separately with different chla calibration coefficients.

Corrections:
Line.sta correction on cast 050 was done: 83.40 was changed to 83.3 40.6.
Cast 064 was interrupted on the upcast so the two files were processed separately and
merged as asc files before comparison to bottle data.

Data look good but there were a few spikes, particularly in the oxygen. No data flags were
added so refer to CTD vs Bottle plots to isolate these bad data.

Cast 005 data were lost due to operator error - EHR restarted data acquistion in order to
record the final deck pressure on the console ops, accidentally over-writing the data file.
IEH data was constructed from the bottle samples and the mrk data.
