CalCOFI 9604JD CTD Data Processing Notes

Summary: The single set of primary sensors: temp, cond, worked well this
cruise and no replacements were required. The oxygen sensor did not work so well
and was replaced after cast 018. O2 data started fine but gradually got noisy.
These data WERE NOT flagged questionable in the .csvs. Hopefully I can come back
and flag questionable data but I am trying to get all the older cruises reprocessed
quickly.

Software: DOS Datcnv(Seasoft exe), running in a Windows XP virtual machine on Windows 7.
Additional Seasoft processing done using v7.23.2 SBE Data Processing. Since the oxygen
sensor was changed, two .xmlcon files were used: 001-018, 019-064 were used in the Derive module.
Fluorometer sensitivity was changed from 1x to 3x as well. Casts 001-048, 056-061 were 1x
and processed using bottle regression coefficients from these casts.
Cast 049-055, 062-467 were bottle corrected using coefficients from these 3x stations.
Bottle corrections for all sensor data were applied using BtlVsCTD, SIO-CalCOFI's
in-house CTD sensor & bottle data merging suite.

Corrections:
Cast 049 - line.sta in .hdr was changed from 83.40 to 83.3 40.6 for parsing

Casts 029 & 29B was restarted on the upcast at 320m. The cast was interrupted after the bottle
closure. Data files were merged for a complete profile.

Fluorometer sensitivity was changed prior to cast 049, from 10x to 3x. So casts
001-048, 056-061 were processed with FlV vs Chla 10x plot correction coefficients (see plot or spreadsheet)
Extra casts 466, 467 were also processed separately using 3x.
049-55, 062-467 were processed with FlV vs Chla 3x plot correction coefficients (see plot or spreadsheet).

Extra casts (refer to each cast's .hdr files for more info):
No bottle samples were taken on Rathburn casts so plots are cruise-average CTD sensor data

400s - Rathburn coring station CTD casts 467, 468, 469

Important note: When running datcnv casts 9604466 caused the transmissometer data to be dropped in the .cnv
files. Casts 047-064 were reprocessed, adding tranmissometer BAT & XMiss data. Unfortunately they were added
in the wrong order so all subsequent SBE Data Processing Modules had to run 001-046 & 047-064 & 065-467 casts
seperately. The final csvs are fine but be aware the BAT & XMiss columns MAY be reversed in the asc files.

Some substantial O2 & salinity spikes were visible on inspection on casts 005, 007, 009, 010, 013-018, until the
O2 sensor was replaced.

Also Cast 065 was a deck test with no profile as all Pr data is on deck ie -0.1.
