CalCOFI 9704NH CTD Data Processing Notes

Another pretty clean cruise - visual inspection of the bottle vs sensor plots do
not show any significant spikes or drop-outs. At this time in CalCOFI, we were
only using a single set of sensors: one T, C, O2 plus the altimeter, transmissometer,
fluorometer, & PAR. Raw .dat files were converted to .cnv in a virtual WindowsXP/DOS
machine on my Windows7 laptop. Once converted, they were processed using SBE Data
Processing Suite in Windows7. Cast 002 & cast 065 .con files were reviewed & no
changes in sensors were noted. So a .xmlcon file was constructed for the Derive
module.
There was an apparent change in fluorometer sensitivity on cast 048 so casts 001
through 047 were processed with different coefficients than casts 048-065.
Please refer to the tow FlV vs Chla regression plots.

There were 65 stations occupied this cruise.
Station 062, 77.60, had two casts: 062 & 062A. There was no notes on why a second 515m
cast was done in 062A .hdr so it was probably another ancillary cast for extra water.
So this cast was relabeled 762 and plotted using cruise-average bottle correction
coefficients. Or 62B could have just been a do-over, please refer to the console ops
notes (which I do not have here at home). It appears casts 062 & 062B were both complete
515m casts.

There were four (five if 62B was one) ancillary CTD casts for a participating scientists Ollie Zafiriou
and Rick Reynolds. No bottle samples were drawn so average bottle vs sensor correction
coefficients were applied then sensor-only data plotted. These cast had '700' added to the cast
number: 718, 725, 755, 761, 762 (62B)

Cast 001 line & station number were corrected from 93.26.7 to 93.3 26.7
Cast 049 line & station number were corrected from 83.40.6 to 83.3 40.6

Files cast numbers were also relabeled from ## to ### ie 01, 02, 03... to 001, 002, 003...
to match current three digit format.
