CalCOFI 9908NH CTD Data Processing Notes (2021)

This cruise had a few issues that will be described here. Please refer to the
console ops notes for clarification of deep casts. I do not have them available.

Note - for compatibility with 2021 software, all cast filenames had a leading
zero prepended ie 990801 > 9908001, 990802 > 9908002...

Seabird 911+ configuration is: dual T & C pumped; single Beckman/YSI Oxygen
sensor on V4/5; Seatech/Wetlabs Fluorometer on V0; Wetlabs Transmissometer on V1;
Benthos/Datasonics Altimeter on V2; Biospherical Remote PAR on V3; Surface PAR on
V15 (although data are null).
Temperature sensor 2 (Serial #2533) had problems during the first 6 casts and
was replaced on cast 007 (Serial #1049; through cast 067).

Deep casts 068-071 (031? missing data files; most likely overwritten since cast 032 was
mislabeled 031; review of the 9908032.dat file shows it was originally saved as
9908031.dat) had T1/C1/T2/C2/O2 only. Refer to their .con configurations for
specifics. The same main sensors used on cast 067 were left on but ancillary
sensors were removed. Although these profiles and station csvs are in the main
data directories. These stations are not included in the db-csvs (time-series
database csvs). They are in the db_csvs folder and can be imported into the
database if desired. They were not integrated into the merged upcast & downcast csvs.

There were 66 CTD stations but cast 031, 068, 069, 070, 071 were ancillary deep
casts not annotated in the .hdr files (Cast 032 was incorrectly labeled cast 031
in the .hdr. These deep casts required processing using the SBE DOS version of
DatCnv.exe. The standard SBE Windows version modules were applies to
the .cnv files but these were not bottle-calibrated since no seawater sample profile
is available.
These data are included but cast profiles use cruise-average corrected sensor data.

Line.Sta .Hdr Edits: Cast 001 - 93.26 > 93.3 26.7; Cast 051 - 83.40.6 > 83.3 40.6
Cast number correction: Cast 032 .hdr 'Cast' changed from 31 to 32.

Since the T2/S2 values on cast 002-006 were bad near surface, these data were
data-coded "9". Since salinity 2 is calculated from T2, those values were also
data-coded "9". Note: no other data were coded so if any other derived values us
T2, they should be flagged as bad (densities, O2 sat, etc).
Cast 002U: T2/S2 from 0-15m "9"
Cast 003D: T2/S2 from 0-50m "9"
Cast 003U: T2/S2 from 0-50m "9"
Cast 004D: T2/S2 from 0-50m "9"
Cast 004U: T2/S2 from 0-25m "9"
Cast 005D: T2/S2 from 0-35m "9"
Cast 005U: T2/S2 from 0-35m "9"
Cast 005D: T2/S2 from 0-40m "9"
Cast 006D: T2/S2 from 0-20m "9"
Cast 006D: T2/S2 from 20-100m "8"
Cast 008U: O2 from 9-15m "8"

Note that profile plots were not redone after data were flagged in order to show the
depths where there were questionable or bad data.
