CalCOFi 1008NH Data Notes

Here is a short listing of data removed from CTD.asc files that were problematic.
The ISUS voltages that were bad were nulled (-99'd) so they would be ignored by the
data processing programs. Most issues with the ISUS are due to power interruptions
or no power. These occur when the cabling loses contact under pressure or the
CTD operator forgets to plug in the ISUS battery. It is necessary for the ISUS
to be powered externally so a rechargeable battery pack is used.
Note that ISUS data may only be bad on the downcast or upcast so good ISUS data
may be available in one of these files. When the complete cast is bad, such as when
the battery was not attached or sensor was removed (3500m casts), it will be
labeled as such.

Cast 005D (downcast): ~400-480m ISUS voltage -99'd
Cast 006D: ~210-345m ISUS voltage -99'd
Cast 009U (upcast): ~440-480m ISUS voltages -99'd
Cast 011U: ~200-196m ISUS voltage -99'd
Cast 018D: ~514-515m ISUS voltage -99'd
Cast 017U: ~430-500m ISUS voltage -99'd
Cast 018U: ~515-470m ISUS voltage -99'd
Cast 024D: ~190-280m ISUS voltage -99'd
Cast 028D: 0-120m ISUS voltage -99'd
Cast 040: 440m Nitrate bottle sample in IEH looks bad, removed from IEH
Cast 043U: entire upcast no data
Cast 044DU: entire cast no data
Cast 045D: entire downcast no data
Cast 045U: ~515-310m ISUS voltage -99'd - ISUS est NO3 data from 315m to 0m

Other CTD data notes:
Between cast 017 & cast 019, the secondary CTD oxygen sensor shifted so casts 001-018
and casts 019-075 secondary CTD O2 data had different bottle-correction coefficients
applied to cruisecorr CTD data. Cast 018 was when the shift occured but is included
in the 1st group. The staCorr CTD O2 data adjusts automatically (regressed dynamically
using station bottle O2s) and is usually considered the best CTD oxygen data.

Cast 028 was interrupted so generated two files, one for downcast 028b and 028 for upcast.
So CTD.asc file u1008028b.asc was relabeled u1008028.asc.
