Forest Lagoon is a new geothermal spa located in Vaðlaskógur forest, couple minutes' car drive from Akureyri. We visited Forest Lagoon in Akureyri and overall it was a really lovely experience. The whole place is set up beautifully, the atmosphere is great, and the staff were friendly throughout.

Our entry was included in our tour package and towel rental was included too, which was really convenient. Why is Forest Lagoon my favorite? Location (this is multi-fold: ease to get to with proximity to Akureyri and amazing setting overlooking Eyjafjörður), design (aesthetics of the lagoon and amenities and also of where the lagoon was placed) and overall vibe. Thoughtful touches like the stone slabs/tabletops for drinks at the edge of the hot pool. Forest Lagoon is just what its name implies, a spa lagoon in a forest setting and I think is a first for Iceland, which is not exactly known for its forests! The baths are nestled amidst the woodland of Vaðlaskógur, just minutes away from the heart of Akureyri.
