I’m not the kind of person to make excuses or put a positive spin on a bad news story. The state election result wasn’t a good one for the Greens. While our vote increased slightly statewide, we didn’t achieve a breakthrough in any of our target seats. Across the river, my friend and colleague Amy MacMahon lost in South Brisbane, and the Greens vote in inner city Brisbane either stagnated or went backwards.
Since I was elected in 2022, I made a point about making sure to have my ear to the ground, listening to what everyday Brisbane residents want and delivering for them. But clearly there was something we missed this time.
That’s why I’ve decided to make my third annual local residents survey totally anonymous.
I’m keen to hear from all local residents about how you think the Greens, and me as your federal MP, are doing: the good, the bad, and anything in between.
Please share this survey to everyone you know who lives in the federal division of Brisbane.
Honest feedback has always been a focus for me and my team, and it’s the reason we spend so much time and energy running local events and being active and accessible in the electorate. I speak to hundreds of local residents each week and endeavour to take their feedback and guidance through to the decisions I make in Parliament and elsewhere.
But I also want to acknowledge that despite my efforts to build this deep connection to the electorate, there’s always more I can do to make sure I’m doing the best possible job as your MP.
