Hi Daniel, This year was hot. And not in a good way. You may have seen reports that 2024 is likely the first year-long breach of 1.5 degrees global heating. The era of climate collapse is upon us - and yet, here in Australia, we are on the brink of electing Peter Dutton – Australia’s own Trump 2.0. It boggles the mind when precious lives, landscapes, species, and literally the world as we know it hangs in the balance. And it reminds us again how urgently we must spread the message: The only safe parliament for our future has Greens in balance of power.
His unapologetic use of Trumpist politics is a frightening sign of what’s to come. And his nuclear plan means keeping coal and gas in the system for even longer. There are many reasons for urgency, Daniel, but perhaps the greatest is the threat of a descent into US-style politics here in Australia. I dread to think what the next few years would look like under a Trump-inspired Dutton. Our task now is to safeguard our democracy in order to protect our precious nature and environment. The truth is: only the Greens can do that (I’ll explain why in a moment).
Last week, both Newspoll and RedBridge polling showed Labor losing so many seats that it couldn’t form a majority government. Labor can’t do this on their own, Daniel. They’ll need a strong progressive Greens crossbench to keep Dutton out. That’s why it falls on us to retain our Greens seats and win another two or more Lower House seats to deliver a shared-power Parliament. Fortunately, the polls have us on track to do just that, but we’ll come under more attack than ever before from conservative interests who want to keep us out. We’re already seeing Advance billboards in our key win seats… This sign is right above our Macnamara campaign office. And a fleet of trucks We can withstand these far-right attacks, but we’ll need your help. Can you chip in to help secure Greens in balance of power and keep Dutton out?
In solidarity, PS. Every dollar we raise before January will go directly into building the most dynamic Greens campaign yet – hiring staff, running ads, and turning conversations into votes. Your early support makes all the difference.
