1. Planning and Design

Prepare for your custom panel by planning and measuring carefully.

Identify desired window size and shape.
Measure existing PC case side panel dimensions.
Check clearance for components, especially large graphics cards (e.g., 3080).
Determine cut lines for the acrylic panel.
Ensure the new panel will align with the case mounting points.
Create a project plan and cut list.
Export the plan to a project folder for easy reference.

2. Tool and Material Selection

Gather the necessary tools and materials for the project.

Select appropriate transparent acrylic sheet.
Choose cutting tools (e.g., jigsaw, router with a straight bit).
Select shaping and smoothing tools (e.g., drum sander, files, sandpaper).
Gather measuring and marking tools (e.g., ruler, marker, calipers).
Acquire safety equipment (e.g., safety glasses, gloves).
Prepare any necessary adhesives or fasteners for mounting.

3. Acrylic Cutting

Carefully cut the acrylic to the planned dimensions.

Transfer cut lines accurately onto the acrylic sheet.
Secure the acrylic sheet for cutting.
Perform the initial cuts according to the plan.
Use appropriate speed and feed rate to avoid melting or cracking the acrylic.
Make multiple passes if necessary for a clean cut.

4. Shaping and Smoothing Edges

Refine the edges of the cut acrylic panel.

Use a drum sander or files to shape the edges to the final profile.
Smooth the cut edges to remove any burrs or rough spots.
Progress through finer grits of sandpaper for a polished finish.
Ensure edges are smooth to the touch and visually appealing.

5. Test Fitting and Adjustments

Verify the fit of the new panel before final installation.

Temporarily place the acrylic panel onto the open PC case.
Check alignment with mounting points.
Identify any interference or clearance issues.
Make necessary adjustments to the panel shape or cut lines.
Ensure the panel sits flush against the case frame.

6. Final Assembly

Install the custom side panel onto your PC case.

Clean the acrylic panel and the PC case mounting area.
Securely attach the custom acrylic side panel to the case.
Use appropriate fasteners or adhesive as planned.
Ensure all connections are stable and the panel is firmly in place.

7. Post-Build Checks

Perform final checks after the panel is installed.

Visually inspect the installed panel for any gaps or misalignments.
Check that all components inside the case are still properly seated.
Ensure no wires are pinched by the new panel.
Verify the case can be closed properly (if applicable).
