After years of waiting, Toyota has revealed a compact new addition to its growing Land Cruiser lineup, borrowing the FJ Cruiser nameplate without directly reviving that long. Toyota is not bringing the new Land Cruiser FJ off. The Toyota FJ Cruiser (Japanese: トヨタ・FJクルーザー, Hepburn: Toyota Efujē Kurūzā) is a retro-styled mid-size SUV produced by Toyota between 2006 and 2022. Introduced as a concept car at the January 2003 North American International Auto Show, the FJ Cruiser was approved for production after positive consumer response and debuted at the February 2005 Chicago Auto Show in final.

Whereas the old FJ Cruiser used a robust but thirsty 4.0-liter V6, the new one is expected to come with a 2.7-liter four-cylinder mill. The only commonality between the new engine and the old V6 is that it'll also be naturally aspirated, suggesting that Toyota is chasing durability over ultimate performance. The FJ Cruiser, Toyota's retro-styled SUV, was produced for a limited period starting in 2006 and largely wound down in the mid.
