Effective Talent Acquisition Design Document
FEEDBACK FROM INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN COLLEAGUE
Hi Crystal,
I hope you're doing well. I wanted to provide some feedback on
your design document for the eLearning course.
Firstly, I must say that you did an excellent job using source
content to relate to the business purpose. It's evident that you
put effort into ensuring the course aligns well with the intended
objectives.
In terms of the audience section, everything looks good. You've
clearly defined the target audience and their specific needs, which
is crucial for an effective eLearning experience.
Regarding the time constraint, I noticed that the project should
be limited to 20 minutes, as per the client's request. While I
understand your idea of adding vILT, it seems that the client
doesn't want this feature. As you know, meeting the client's
requirements is of utmost importance, and we need to respect
their decisions.
In the recommendation section, I would suggest simplifying the
pitch. It's essential to avoid including overly specific content
points and instead focus on presenting a concise plan that clearly
highlights the benefits of the eLearning course. Consider
rephrasing it into a single sentence format that captures the
essence of the training, such as "1 eLearning course that allows
learners to make choices in real-life interview scenarios and
interact with the content while receiving feedback."
I appreciate the inclusion of a job aid as a deliverable. Given the
time constraints, this will be a valuable addition to the training,
providing learners with quick reference material to support their
learning journey.
In the learning objectives, there's no need to specify the 80%
achievement level. As you rightly pointed out, that will become
apparent in the assessment plan. Additionally, consider using
more descriptive verbs than "determine" in the learning
objectives to make them clearer and easier to assess. Words like
"describe," "identify," or "categorize" could be more suitable.
Now, let's talk about the outline. Remember that the primary
purpose of the outline is to be topical/content-based. Specific
instructions on how things will happen in the course belong more
in the storyboard. It might be helpful to focus on a more general
topical outline that organizes the course content effectively. For
instance:
Introduction
- Welcome
- Navigation
- Objectives
Interview Strategy Introduction
- Explain the purpose of interview strategies
- List and describe the different interview strategies
- Highlight how interview strategies impact the quality of
candidates
Interview Strategy Scenario
- Provide the learner with real-life scenarios, where they act as
the hiring manager throughout the interview process, applying
their knowledge of interview strategies
As for the assessment and evaluation sections, they look good
and well-aligned with the overall course design.
I hope this feedback is helpful for your design process. Feel free
to reach out if you have any questions or need further
clarification. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to seeing
the final version of the eLearning course!
FEEDBACK REFLECTION
During the course design process, I received valuable feedback
from my colleague on my eLearning course design document.
Their insights provided me with a fresh perspective and helped
me identify areas for improvement.
My colleague's positive feedback on the use of source content to
match the business purpose was encouraging. It reaffirmed my
belief in the importance of aligning the course with specific
objectives. Moving forward, I will continue to prioritize this aspect
of the design process to create impactful eLearning experiences.
The acknowledgment that the audience section looks good was
reassuring. Defining the target audience's needs is crucial for a
successful course, and I will remain mindful of this aspect in
future projects as well.
Regarding the time constraint and their emphasis on meeting the
client's preference not to include vILT, my colleague's feedback
emphasized the significance of meeting client requirements. I
understand the importance of respecting their decisions and will
ensure that future designs adhere to their preferences, while still
delivering an engaging learning experience.
My colleague's suggestion to simplify the pitch for the eLearning
course was insightful. I realized that concise, clear language can
effectively highlight the course's benefits. I will rephrase the
recommendation accordingly during the Beta phase, ensuring it is
easily understandable and appealing to the client.
The inclusion of a job aid as a deliverable received positive
feedback, and I recognized its value in supporting learners within
the time constraints. I will continue to consider additional
supporting materials to enhance the learning journey.
The feedback on the learning objectives was constructive.
Removing the 80% achievement level and using more descriptive
verbs will enhance their clarity and assessment. I plan to apply
these improvements in the Beta phase of this design document.
My colleague's guidance on the outline was helpful in
differentiating between content-based and instructional
instructions. I now understand that the outline should focus on
the topics and leave detailed instructions for the storyboard.
I am grateful for my colleague's positive remarks on the
assessment and evaluation sections, as they confirm that my
design aligns well with the overall course objectives. I will
continue to strive for effective assessments that accurately
measure learners' understanding and progress.
In conclusion, I am incredibly appreciative of the valuable
feedback I received from my colleague. It has been instrumental
in shaping my approach to course design. As I move forward, I
will integrate these improvements into my Beta phase design
document, aiming to create eLearning courses that are impactful,
engaging, and aligned with clients' preferences and objectives.
