The Rohl Eclissi shower represents a significant evolution in minimalist bathroom design, merging the precision engineering of Italian craftsmanship with a sophisticated aesthetic that appeals to both contemporary architects and discerning homeowners. This linear shower system is not merely a functional element but a design statement, characterized by its clean lines, concealed components, and seamless integration with wet-room installations. Its popularity stems from a commitment to quality materials, such as solid brass and durable stone resin, ensuring longevity and a pristine appearance that withstands the humid demands of a bathroom environment.
Design Philosophy and Aesthetic Appeal
At the heart of the Eclissi collection is a design philosophy that strips away the unnecessary to reveal pure functionality and elegance. The name "Eclissi," meaning "eclipse" in Italian, perfectly encapsulates its visual identity: components that appear to disappear into the substrate or wall. The signature linear channel is available in a range of premium finishes, including polished chrome, matte black, and nickel, allowing it to complement a wide spectrum of interior schemes. Unlike traditional point drains, the continuous channel provides a sleek, uninterrupted surface that not only looks more spacious but also directs water flow effortlessly, eliminating any risk of pooling.
Key Design Features

- Available in multiple lengths to accommodate any space.
Technical Excellence and Installation
Beyond its beauty, the Rohl Eclissi shower is a testament to intelligent engineering. The system is designed to be installed on a sturdy subfloor, typically a thick mortar bed or a prefabricated shower pan, which creates the necessary slope for water to flow perfectly into the linear channel. The sloped base is a critical component, as it ensures that water is consistently directed toward the channel rather than toward the drain's edges. This precise geometry prevents water from seeping under the shower base, protecting the subfloor from potential damage and ensuring a dry, safe environment outside the shower area.
Components of the System
| Component | Function | Material |
|---|---|---|
| Linear Channel | Collects and directs water flow | Solid Brass or Stone Resin |
| Slope Base | Creates the pitch for drainage | Cement Board or Pre-sloped Membrane |
| Drain Assembly | Connects channel to waste pipe | Solid Brass |
| Trim Kit | Finishes the edges of the channel | Matching finish to channel |
Functionality and User Experience
The true measure of a great shower is its performance, and the Eclissi excels in this regard. The wide channel opening, often several inches long, allows water to enter the drainage system rapidly, preventing any surface water from lingering on the floor. This means a quicker return to a dry, non-slip surface after stepping out, a detail that significantly enhances safety. Furthermore, the absence of a traditional, raised shower curb eliminates the awkward and potentially hazardous step-over, making it accessible for users of all ages and abilities while maintaining a sophisticated, continuous floor plane.
Maintenance and Long-Term Value
Homeowners will appreciate the practical benefits of the Eclissi system when it comes to upkeep. Because there is no traditional curtain or door, there is no soap scum buildup on fabric or hardware to battle daily. Cleaning is as simple as wiping down the smooth surfaces of the channel and the tiles with a standard bathroom cleaner. The high-quality materials resist staining and tarnishing, ensuring that the fixture maintains its original luster and finish over the lifespan of the bathroom. This durability translates directly into long-term value, making it a cost-effective investment for both new builds and high-end renovations.
Complementing the Rohl Experience
The Eclissi line is a cornerstone of Rohl's commitment to innovative plumbing and bath fixtures, and it is often paired with other elements from the collection to create a cohesive bathroom environment. Thermostatic valves from Rohl can be integrated to control both the temperature and volume of water within the channel, adding an essential layer of safety and comfort. Pairing the shower with matching faucets and accessories ensures a unified look that ties the entire room together. This level of coordination is a hallmark of high-end residential design, where every detail contributes to a harmonious and luxurious atmosphere.
