Chiropractic care has been something I love for almost a decade. I only visited the doctor if I needed a tune-up in the course of the year. After enrolling into a PhD Program, I realized how much more I used my computer to surf than surfing. The Joint recommended periodic maintenance. I love the flexibility of The Joint's drop-in policies. And the docs are always friendly and accommodating. Regular adjustments have helped me avoid the last-minute, desperate adjustments that were so common in my past. I now feel the benefits of regular healthcare. It's free and easy to sign up if it isn't for you. After an adjustment, you'll feel refreshed and ready to make good choices in all areas of your life. Prodigy Chiro care & Spinal Rehab thanks for keeping this student happy and healthy.
Chiropractic's origins lie in the folk medicine of bonesetting, and as it evolved it incorporated vitalism, spiritual inspiration and rationalism. Its early philosophy was based on deduction from irrefutable doctrine, which helped distinguish chiropractic from medicine, provided it with legal and political defenses against claims of practicing medicine without a license, and allowed chiropractors to establish themselves as an autonomous profession. This "straight" philosophy, taught to generations of chiropractors, rejects the inferential reasoning of the scientific method, and relies on deductions from vitalistic first principles rather than on the materialism of science. However, most practitioners tend to incorporate scientific research into chiropractic, and most practitioners are "mixers" who attempt to combine the materialistic reductionism of science with the metaphysics of their predecessors and with the holistic paradigm of wellness. A 2008 commentary proposed that chiropractic actively divorce itself from the straight philosophy as part of a campaign to eliminate untestable dogma and engage in critical thinking and evidence-based research.
Many chiropractors opposed water fluoridation at first. Others still do not support it, citing that it is inconsistent with chiropractic philosophy and an invasion of individual freedom. Other chiropractors have promoted fluoridation. Several chiropractic organizations have also endorsed scientific principles in public health. Not only is there traditional chiropractic opposition against water fluoridation or vaccination, but chiropractors' efforts to build a positive reputation for public health are also undermined by the fact that they recommend recurrent lifelong chiropractic treatment.
Students of chiropractic care must spend a minimum of at least 4,200 hours with their teacher, and a minimum of 1,000 hours of fully supervised clinical training with an instructor as they learn the appropriate diagnosis and treatment techniques to help heal your body and restore it to its natural, fully functioning state.
Decompression therapy, a non-surgical procedure that relieves back pain due to pressure in the spine, is an alternative to surgery. Non-surgical spinal compression may involve traction, which will slowly stretch and relax the back. Your spine may be repositioned, which can reduce pain.
Carlos Rodriguez is my absolute favorite chiropractor. I'm glad that I don't live in LA anymore

There are different requirements for each country. The U.S. offers a diploma that is not medically accredited in chiropractic. The U.S. chiropractic education has been criticised for not meeting the generally accepted standards of evidence-based medical care. There is little overlap between the curriculums of North American medical and chiropractic colleges in terms of clinical and basic sciences. The U.S. requires that all applicants must have completed 90 semester hours of undergraduate education and have a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a scale of 4.0. Many programs require at minimum three years of undergraduate education. More programs are now requiring a bachelor’s degree. Canada requires applicants to have at least three years of undergraduate education and at most 4200 hours of full-time chiropractic education in order to be matriculated through an accredited chiropractic program. Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC), graduates are officially recognized as having at least 7-8 years' university-level education. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are three main full-time educational pathways that lead to a DC, DCM or BSc degree. They also recommend a conversion program for those with other health care education, and limited training programs in regions that do not have chiropractic legislation.

Running is not easy for both novice and seasoned athletes. These alignments are mechanical weaknesses that make runners susceptible to debilitating injury and joint degeneration (arthritis).
A chiropractor can help you get back on the field or course safely and quickly if you're an athlete or a regular participant. No matter your experience level, a chiropractor can help improve your athletic performance and speed up your recovery.
Many adults do not wish to take medication and see a chiropractor in order to manage or eliminate their pain. However, there are many other reasons that patients seek chiropractic care. They include:
Each NFL team now has an official team chiropractic team. Major League Baseball has thirty teams with a team chiropractic. 39% of participants in a 2006 study on Division I NCAA athletes competing at intercollegiate sporting events were able to report that they had used chiropractic services within the previous 12 months.
A minimum of 4,200 hours must be spent with a teacher in chiropractic care. Additionally, they must complete at least 1,000 hours of clinical training with an instructor. This will allow them to develop the necessary diagnosis and treatment techniques to heal your body, and restore its natural functioning.
Santa Monica's sports chiropractors practice this type of medicine to aid both professional and amateur athletes. They evaluate and treat sports injuries and help athletes function optimally through non-invasive joints manipulation. The goal is usually to increase muscle tone, balance and performance for a particular sport. This specialized field is home to the active release technique, selective functional movement assessment and (SFMA), as well as the Graston technique.

After collecting your history, the chiropractor can perform a physical exam or begin treatment. The chiropractor might use manual or electronic spinal manipulations. The chiropractor will then recommend a series of follow-up appointments. The number of visits you need will vary depending on your health, the severity of your pain, and any other treatments you are using. It is best to have chiropractic care in conjunction with other pain management therapies, such as medication, physical therapy, and pain-reducing injections.
Finally, contact your insurance provider for a list of chiropractors who are covered by your network. Use this to make sure that you find a chiropractor who is within your plan and recommended by your insurance.

Rotdriguez has been my chiropractic doctor for 15 years. There are many reasons why. First, his adjustments are top-notch.
Work trauma can be any kind of trauma resulting from physical activity at work, or anything that’s a chronic condition, due to repetitive use of certain postures. And that can include sitting for prolonged periods of time, not taking regular breaks and not sitting correctly. Ergonomics does play a big role. Everyone spends a lot of money on trying to get the proper chairs and sitting on Swiss balls to try to regain some of that core. A lot of these issues can be corrected by just going from a sitting to a standing position and still maintaining your workload.
Treatments to overcome lower back pain depend on a combination of things. I am looking at whether this is an acute or chronic condition and at how long it has been since the pain started. These factors all play a big role in what protocol we actually use when helping the patient out. As far as overcoming the pain, we would most likely start with the same thing, do a proper assessment as far as what needs to happen, give the patient a series of home exercises. There is another important factor in treatment and prevention: the job they do and their position during work plays a big role as far as affecting the patients’ back. So, depending on if your job is physical or if you have a sitting down job like most people do, the exercises and treatment alternatives will vary. Breaking the routine does play a big role, so going from a seated to a standing position, obviously will help a lower back condition. Lower back pain treatments are largely depending on the condition we need to treat. We may be dealing with the severity of a disbulge, with herniation, proliferation, prolapse. Depending on whatever it is, we treat according to protocol. So, someone who comes in with an acute condition they have not had in the past, will usually get treated very conservatively with chiropractics, and that usually involves manual adjustments. For a more complex version, like spinal decompression, we concentrate on the disc to distract it out, depending on the size of the herniation.
Headaches are sometimes associated with lower back pain. This generally occurs when people are holding their stress or their posture in the upper part of what’s called the trapezius, which is the muscle located right below the neck line. By having a forward posture, you are encouraging your body to go into a C-shape posture, which causes the shoulders to go around it, and then you lead with the head. In doing so, you can actually constrict the artery that allows blood to flow to the head, leading to tension headaches. Our bodies are dictated by our lower backs, which means that if we don’t maintain that curve, called a lower dotted curve, we will make our bodies stay in this forward head posture. This then puts a lot of strain on your back, due to the fact that the weight is being distributed unevenly.
