Maintaining precise water conditions is vital to the health and well-being of every species at Planet Zoo. Adequate, clean water supports hydration, hygiene, and natural behaviors across diverse animal habitats.

Planet Zoo’s water standards exceed basic needs, combining species-specific demands with environmental sustainability. Fresh, filtered water must match pH and temperature for aquatic life, while terrestrial animals require clean sources for drinking, bathing, and enrichment. Regular testing ensures contaminants are eliminated, preventing disease and stress in sensitive species.

Water quality and availability depend on animal type, climate, and enclosure design. Aquatic and amphibious species need constant access to chemically balanced water, while desert-adapted animals require controlled hydration to prevent dehydration. Enclosures use recirculation systems and automated filtration to maintain purity and consistent supply, minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency.

Planet Zoo prioritizes sustainability by integrating rainwater harvesting, advanced filtration, and real-time monitoring. Daily checks and predictive analytics ensure optimal levels while reducing environmental impact. These practices support not only animal health but also the zoo’s commitment to eco-conscious operations.

Deep Swimming Requirements Hayo Zookeepers! With deep swimming comes a new requirement to ensure the water is deep enough for your animals to swim around happily! You can find this new requirement in the animal information UI and related information panels, such as the Terrain Tabs, for all deep swimming animals. I started playing Planet Zoo a few days ago and I'm still trying to figure out a lot of stuff such as boundary requirement in different habitats. I already understood the barrier's resistance grades but I still don't understand when it says, for example, "Water >6m Wide and >2m Deep" like in the picture.

Some animals like the Nile Monitor require a water source. The requirements are by square meter (quantity, not surface area). This means you can save money and space by building down into the ground.

As long as there is a slope for them to get out, it doesn't matter how deep the pool is. I tried to have it all covered. (But doing the Indian Casino's career zoo, I had doubts).

I only need it if my habitat has a watery terrain. Still, do I need water purifiers if they don't? I saw most species habitats don't require water terrain, so I added the most expensive water container (that one that costs $300 and self-fills), but I don't know if those require being connected to. In Planet Zoo, our task is to build and manage a zoo.
We must create habitats for animals, provide them with food and water, and ensure their safety and well. Water depth requirements are present on info panels next to the existing land and surface area requirements. Zoopedia: Natural Habitat section Animal info panel: Terrain tab Habitat info panel: Terrain tab Underwater Feeder The Underwater Box Feeder, a new feeding station, will be available for everyone as part of the 1.4.0 update.
A general rule of thumb is if an animal has a water requirement in the Zoopedia, it has the ability to swim (credit to R♥tabaga). However, not all animals with the ability to swim have water requirements. and the common ostrich seems to be a special case with the ability to run at full speed through deep water.
See how deep the water needs to be for deep diving with every Planet Zoo animal and learn the quickest way to build water at the correct depth in this short but complete guide to Planet Zoo Deep. A 4 by 4 box is only 16 m 2 since it only measures surface area. It is however 64 m 3, but Planet Zoo doesn't have any requirements that use m 3.
Problem is with animals that can swim but don't have water requirements, like Grizzlies for example. Here's hoping they add a "Water can act as barrier: yes/no" or "can swim" note in the Zoopedia at some point. EDIT: Or something about water depth requirement for barrier.
