We will be buying some new kitchen cabinets as part of a remodel soon. Seems like all of the stuff at home depot and lowes are built using MDF or particle board, which I think I'd like to avoid. Question is, what to buy? There are some sites online that sell ready-to-assemble cabinets and fully assembled cabinets.

Big box retailers like Home Depot, Lowe's, and IKEA offer a wide selection of ready-to-assemble cabinets at competitive prices, while specialized cabinet companies can provide custom. Have you checked out IKEA? Their cabinets are pretty decent quality, especially for the price. Plus, they come in a bunch of colors, so you can match your wood floors and walls no problem.

I know what cabinet sizes I want, where I want then, and even general color palette. I would like frameless (wider drawers), but only if there's a decent assortment of wood-like colors to choose from, and would go with framed if they seemed the best price / quality option. Pre-assembled preferred, but can be RTA if its significantly cheaper.

You can try unfinished-kitchen-cabinets.net. These guys probably have the best customization options I've seen, nice interactive site and prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. That having been said, assembly was easy, and for the money, there's not a cabinet of better quality available, and given the square footage of my kitchen, it made the remodel possible.
They're quality products, it was just the circumstances of the world. Looking for the best value on kitchen cabinets We're buying a house and the kitchen needs a total overhaul. Originally I was leaning towards IKEA and/or Semi Handmade, but the more I looked thru this sub, the less sold I was.
Has anyone had them for 5+ years, or found solid wood for a decent price elsewhere?
