When the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor hit the scene, it wasn’t just about raw off-road capability—it was also a statement of style. One of the most frequently asked questions among enthusiasts and potential buyers alike is: “What colors were available for the 2017 Ford Raptor?” The answer reveals a palette designed to match the truck’s bold personality, blending ruggedness with modern flair.
Available Exterior Colors for the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor
Ford offered a curated selection of exterior paint options for the 2017 Raptor, each chosen to complement its aggressive stance and high-performance DNA. These colors weren’t just aesthetic choices—they reflected the truck’s dual identity: a daily driver that could conquer desert trails on weekends. Below is a breakdown of the official color lineup:
| Color Name | Color Code | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Oxford White | YZ | A clean, classic white that highlights the Raptor’s muscular lines and provides a timeless look. |
| Shadow Black | G1 | Deep, jet-black finish that adds stealthy sophistication and contrasts sharply with the Raptor’s chrome accents. |
| Magnetic Metallic | FM | A dark gray with subtle metallic flecks that shift in sunlight, giving the truck a dynamic, modern edge. |
| Blue Jeans Metallic | N1 | A unique blue-gray hue inspired by denim—distinctive without being flashy, perfect for those who want something different. |
| Ingot Silver Metallic | UX | Bright silver with a polished metallic sheen that emphasizes the Raptor’s sculpted body panels. |
| Race Red | PQ | Vibrant red that screams performance and turns heads whether on pavement or dirt. |
| Ruby Red Metallic | RR | A deeper, richer red with metallic undertones, offering a more refined take on boldness. |
Color Availability by Trim Level
All seven colors were available across both the base Raptor and the higher-trim Raptor SuperCrew configurations. Unlike some competitors that restrict premium hues to top-tier models, Ford kept the full spectrum accessible regardless of cab style or option package. This democratization of color choice reinforced the Raptor’s ethos: performance for everyone.
Interior Color Options and Material Choices
While exterior paint grabs attention, the cabin experience matters just as much. For 2017, Ford paired the Raptor’s adventurous spirit with two primary interior themes:
- Black Leather: The standard option, featuring durable, easy-to-clean leather with contrast stitching. It’s practical for off-road use while maintaining a premium feel.
- Medium Earth Gray Leather: A lighter alternative that brightens the cabin and offers a more relaxed, lifestyle-oriented vibe—ideal for those who prioritize comfort during long drives.
Both interiors included unique Raptor-specific badging, aluminum accents, and available technology packages like SYNC 3 and a B&O PLAY audio system. The color coordination between exterior and interior was intentional; for example, Shadow Black exteriors often came with black interiors for a monochromatic look, while Blue Jeans Metallic paired beautifully with Medium Earth Gray.
Special Editions and Limited Runs
Although the 2017 model year didn’t feature a dedicated special edition like later years (e.g., the Raptor Black Appearance Package introduced in 2020), Ford did offer appearance packages that influenced color perception. The “Raptor Graphics Package” included unique decals and striping that interacted dynamically with the base paint—especially noticeable on lighter shades like Oxford White or Ingot Silver.
How Color Choice Impacts Resale Value and Popularity
Among used 2017 Raptors today, certain colors command higher demand. Shadow Black and Race Red consistently top resale charts due to their timeless appeal and association with performance. Meanwhile, Blue Jeans Metallic has developed a cult following—its rarity and distinctive tone make it a favorite among collectors and customizers.
From an SEO and marketability perspective, “ford raptor colors 2017” remains a high-intent search term. Buyers researching this phrase are often in the decision-making phase, comparing trims, colors, and condition. Providing clear, accurate color information helps build trust and positions your content as a go-to resource.
Final Thoughts on Choosing the Right 2017 Raptor Color
Selecting a color for a 2017 Ford Raptor isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about aligning the truck’s visual identity with your lifestyle. Whether you prefer the understated elegance of Magnetic Metallic or the head-turning punch of Ruby Red, each option enhances the Raptor’s legendary presence. As these trucks age into classic status, originality and color authenticity will only grow in importance.
