Fan Milk is a Ghana based manufacturer and retailer of ice cream and frozen dairy products, [1][2][3] In July 2019, Danone, previously a joint shareholder with The Abraaj Group, increased its stake to 100% and thus assumed complete ownership of the company. Fan Milk PLC evolved and introduced yoghurt drinks, ice lollies and ice creams in the 1970's which became very popular in the market and generated the financial strength to set up further depots and, in 1981, a second recombination plant in Kano was inaugurated. Founded by a Danish entrepreneur, Fan Milk Limited has been in existence since 1962.
The company was converted to a public limited liability in 1969, and is currently engaged in the production and distribution of milk-based and fruit-based products. As a young man, Erik trained in the shipping company J. Lauritzen in Esbjerg, Denmark. Shortly afterwards, he went to Scotland and England to further his education.
Before the start of the Second World War, Erik was stationed in Poland. As time went on, he was employed by Viggo Ostergaard, a Danish company that exported pig feet. In the 1970s Fan Milk introduced yoghurt drink, ice lollies, ice cream and new Tetra Pak packaging technology.
