How to cut a tree? Do it yourself step by step.

Gardening work is not only planting, weeding, mowing or light trimming. But also felling, including felling of trees, which in the scale of all garden work can be classified as "heavy work". Of course, you can avoid them, try to outsource them if necessary, but you can also do them yourself. It is neither impossible nor difficult, you just need to know how to go about it. So get to know the instruction entitled: how to cut a tree?

Of course, we are talking about trees that are accessible "from the ground" or possibly by ladders. All the larger ones, which require heavier equipment, should be left to specialists. Which doesn't mean you can't try.

How to cut a tree? Step by step.
Step 1 - digging the trunk. About the width and depth of the spade. It is about exposing the roots, which will later have to be trimmed.

Step 2 - pruning the branches. The rule is simple: from the tallest and thinnest to the shorter and thicker. Use a hand saw or a chainsaw to cut off all the branches so that only the thickest ones remain, and of course the trunk itself.

Step 3 - cutting thick branches. So that only the trunk remains, at a height of 1.5 m. It will be needed in a moment.

Step 4 - initial cleaning. Even though we are only halfway there, it is worth doing it to facilitate further work. For this purpose, use the same saw as before to cut the previously cut small branches on the ground. Of course, you can not do it, but take everything as it lies, but it is definitely better to cut off the small pieces that you are getting rid of, and leave a bit thicker for firewood, fire or even smoking, if you are cutting a fruit tree. Just like in my example.

Step 5 - cutting the roots. With the trunk dug up earlier, the main roots are also exposed. They have to be cut. It is best to do this with an ax. I do not recommend using a chainsaw because the soil that sticks to the roots damages the chain or the saw teeth.

Step 6 - breaking the trunk. We are at the stage where only the trunk is left of the tree, all the main, thickest, side roots have been cut off. There is nothing else to do but knock him down. To do this, in two or three people, it must be "rocked" and knocked down. Usually you need some strength, but you can safely do it. It is also worth remembering that it is good if the trunk has been left at a height of about 1.5 m. Then it is easier to lean against it, and it is easier to knock it down with a larger "arm".

Step 7 - Trim the rest of the roots. Having a fallen trunk, use an ax to cut off the rest of the roots, most often the lower ones that hold it and prevent it from being removed from the pit.

Step 8 - cutting the trunk. We cut with saws into pieces that, like the previous ones, can be used somewhere.
