You may need to adjust the starting point so that full tiles occupy the main field, and the cut edges end up in the corners or behind fixtures. Mark these layout lines lightly with a level or chalk line, ensuring they are perfectly vertical (plumb). Setting the Tiles with Mortar

After a few minutes, wipe away the excess with a damp sponge, being careful not to remove the grout from the lines. Sealing and Final Maintenance
