Crypto Balance (Kraken) for Android
Application ID: net.swmud.trog.cryptobalancekraken
Developer: Trogious · Contact: cryptobalancekraken@swmud.net
Effective date: 20 August 2026
Summary: This app does not collect your data.
It has no servers, no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
Your Kraken API credentials are stored only on your device, in encrypted storage. The app
communicates with exactly one service — the Kraken exchange API — to fetch your own account
balance at your request, and that information is shown only on your home-screen widget.
1. What the app does
Crypto Balance (Kraken) is a home-screen widget that displays the balance of your own
Kraken cryptocurrency exchange account. You provide a Kraken API key; the app periodically
queries the Kraken API with it and renders the returned balance on the widget.
2. Information the app handles
The app handles only the following information, all of it on your device:
- Kraken API credentials. The API key and private key you enter in the
widget's configuration screen. They are stored exclusively on your device in encrypted
storage (Android Keystore–backed, AES-256) and are used solely to authenticate requests to
the Kraken API. They are transmitted only to Kraken, over an encrypted HTTPS connection,
and never to the developer or to any other party.
- Account balance information. The total balance and the list of currency
codes returned by Kraken for your account. This is cached on your device so the widget can
still display the last known values when offline.
The app does not request, access, collect or store anything else. In particular it has no
access to and makes no use of your name, email address, contacts, location, photos, files,
messages, device identifiers, or usage and diagnostics data.
3. Data collection and sharing: none
- The developer operates no servers and receives no data from the app — nothing is
transmitted to the developer, ever.
- The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking
SDKs.
- The only network communication the app performs is directly between your device and the
Kraken API (
api.kraken.com) over HTTPS, at your direction, to retrieve your own
account information. No data is sold or shared with any third party.
4. Third-party service: Kraken
Requests made with your API key are processed by the Kraken exchange (operated by Payward,
Inc. and its affiliates) under its own terms and privacy policy. See the
Kraken Privacy Notice. You control this
relationship entirely: the API key belongs to your Kraken account and you can restrict or
revoke it at any time in Kraken's security settings.
5. Data storage, retention and deletion
- All data (credentials and cached balances) lives only on your device. It is retained
until you change or remove it.
- To delete it: clear the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app. Both
remove all stored credentials and cached data.
- For additional certainty you can also revoke the API key itself in your Kraken account,
which immediately invalidates it everywhere.
- Android's standard backup service may include app data in your device backup, subject to
your own device backup settings. The encryption key protecting your stored credentials
resides in the device's hardware-backed Keystore and is never included in backups, so
backed-up credential data cannot be decrypted on another device.
6. Security
- Credentials are encrypted at rest with AES-256 via Android's
EncryptedSharedPreferences, with the master key held in the Android Keystore.
- All network traffic uses TLS (HTTPS). The app never disables certificate validation.
- Recommendation: create a dedicated Kraken API key for this app with only the
Query Funds permission. The app only reads balances — it never needs trading or
withdrawal rights, and a query-only key limits the impact if your device is compromised.
7. Android permissions used
- Internet — to contact the Kraken API.
- Network state — to fetch only when a connection is available.
- Run at startup — to resume the periodic balance refresh after the
device restarts.
- Wake lock / foreground service (data sync) — to let the system complete
a brief balance refresh reliably in the background; during an immediate refresh a local
"Updating balance…" notification may be shown briefly.
8. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and, as described above, collects no personal
information from anyone.
9. Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices ever change, this policy will be updated at this same address
with a new effective date before the change takes effect.
