Crypto View for Android
Application ID: net.swmud.trog.cryptoview
Developer: Trogious · Contact: cryptoview@swmud.net
Effective date: 21 August 2026
Summary: This app does not collect your data.
It has no servers, no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
It requires no login and no API key. The app communicates with exactly one service — the Kraken
exchange's public market-data API — to fetch publicly available cryptocurrency prices, and
everything it stores (your pair selections and cached prices) stays on your device.
1. What the app does
Crypto View is a home-screen widget that displays current market prices for cryptocurrency
pairs you choose. The app periodically queries the Kraken exchange's public market-data API and
renders the returned prices on the widget. No account of any kind is involved — the data it
fetches is the same public price information anyone can see on Kraken's website.
2. Information the app handles
The app handles only the following information, all of it on your device:
- Your widget settings. The list of currency pairs you selected, their
display order, and your refresh preferences. These are stored exclusively on your device and
are never transmitted anywhere.
- Cached market data. The list of available trading pairs and the prices
and recent price history returned by Kraken. This is public information, cached on your
device so the widget can still display the last known values when offline.
The app does not request, access, collect or store anything else. In particular it has no
access to and makes no use of your name, email address, contacts, location, photos, files,
messages, device identifiers, or usage and diagnostics data. It holds no credentials of any
kind — there is nothing to log in to.
3. Data collection and sharing: none
- The developer operates no servers and receives no data from the app — nothing is
transmitted to the developer, ever.
- The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking
SDKs.
- The only network communication the app performs is directly between your device and the
Kraken public API (
api.kraken.com) over HTTPS, to retrieve publicly available
market prices. These requests contain no personal information and no credentials — only the
symbols of the currency pairs to quote. No data is sold or shared with any third party.
4. Third-party service: Kraken
Market data is served by the Kraken exchange (operated by Payward, Inc. and its affiliates)
under its own terms and privacy policy. See the
Kraken Privacy Notice. The app uses only
Kraken's public, unauthenticated endpoints — no Kraken account is needed or used. As with any
internet service, Kraken's servers can see your device's IP address when the app contacts them;
the app sends them nothing else about you.
5. Data storage, retention and deletion
- All data (your pair selections, settings and cached prices) lives only on your device.
It is retained until you change or remove it.
- To delete it: clear the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app. Both
remove all stored settings and cached data.
- Android's standard backup service may include app data in your device backup, subject to
your own device backup settings. This data consists only of your pair selections, settings
and cached public prices — it contains nothing personal or secret.
6. Security
- All network traffic uses TLS (HTTPS). Cleartext (unencrypted) connections are disabled
and the app never disables certificate validation.
- The app stores no passwords, keys or other credentials, so there are no secrets on your
device to protect or lose.
7. Android permissions used
- Internet — to contact the Kraken public market-data API.
- Network state — to fetch only when a connection is available.
- Run at startup — to resume the periodic price refresh after the
device restarts.
- Wake lock / foreground service (data sync) — to let the system complete
a brief price refresh reliably in the background; during an immediate refresh an
"Updating prices…" notification may be shown briefly.
8. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and, as described above, collects no personal
information from anyone.
9. Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices ever change, this policy will be updated at this same address
with a new effective date before the change takes effect.
10. Contact
