Have you considered using a cabinet maker to supply the cabinets? I do alot of flat packs for customers. If you use a cabinetmaker you will get the following, Custom sized cabinets Better quality board Blum hinges Bigger choices of materials and colours. Much better quality overall.

It should cost that much more either if you buy it flat pack. We're looking at a couple of kitchen replacement options - Mitre 10 versus a specialist cabinet maker. Price, as you would expect, is in favour of Mitre 10.

One thing I note is the the cabinet 'carcass' for Mitre 10 is 16mm versus 18mm for the bespoke option, so I am wondering of the Mitre 10 option would stand the test of time. Having lived with a custom kitchen and a kitset the biggest thing I experienced was proper use of space. The kitsets use a lot of filler panels etc to make things fit in the space, the custom kitchen made use of every single available cm and was much more user.

Only had bad experience with Mitre 10 kitchens. Wrong sizes, really slow delivery, not any cheaper than anyone else. I've built a Kaboodle kitchen from Bunnings, easy enough to DIY, price is good, instructions are good.

I understand the opinions of many out there wrt flatpacks, in particular Ikea & Kaboodle, etc., however as I am yet to see any reviews/comments on Mitre 10's Principal Kitchens (I'm assuming they are at the same level as the Bunnings' Kaboodle kitchens). Me and my partner just purchased our first home and are looking to redo the kitchen at some point in the near future, we've seen a few simple reasonably priced kitchen packs at mitre10 around 12. After tons of research we figured that the quality and price of the flat packs from lowest to highest goes Bunnings, Placemakers, Mitre 10 - for like for like kitchens.

You get what you pay for and the mitre 10 stuff has way better fittings, better warranties and more benchtop options etc. The cabinets are made out of the same materials across the board. The main difference will be the hardware I worked in a factory making kitchens and have used both kaboodle and mitre 10 brands for various projects.
