A film dedicated to the career of violinist, improviser, instrumentalist and composer Carlos "Zingaro", who is one of the most important names in Portuguese experimental music, as well as one of the great figures of European improvised music. The Meet Me in the Bathroom oral history novel by Lizzy Goodman was released to great acclaim in 2017, from music critics and historians. Mainly for its length and what was considered 'unseen' history for moments lost in the New York underground art and music scene.

I think Carlos was the biggest personality associated with the band at the time. His absence is sad to see as he was a big part of the appeal of Interpol in the early days. At the end of the day I'm just happy there is any record of this period of time being released at all.

I feel old. Largely a shapeless hagiography but it undeniably put me in a great mood. Can't not give a heart to a movie with footage of Carlos D in bozo mode comparing himself to Nic Cage in Leaving Las Vegas, Paul Banks literally wandering through Manhattan on 9/11 and James Murphy in the 90s looking like he's in Dekkar.

This suspiciously does not cover the one time Carlos D. was an asshole to me at B-Side in 2006. It must have been cut for time.

Anyway, I don't even know if this is good, but I was around for a lot of the stuff (like shows) featured in this doc and that was exhilarating to relive these moments that I blacked out (alcohol). It rightfully begins with The Moldy Peaches and Karen O, and it. In Meet Me In The Bathroom Paul states he loves Carlos (and the book came out a couple years ago).

After reading the book, it really sounds like Carlos and Sam didnt get along towards OLTA and S/T.
