The Orrell House is a simple Colonial style, two story, white clapboard square cube house; 28 ft on each side and 28 feet high. On the first floor, there are four areas; living room, dining room, kitchen and pantry connected by a short hallway that connects the front rooms to the back rooms, The second floor also has one bathroom and 3 bedrooms.

It's a comfortable location, near enough to the center of the old town to have been within easy reach of everything, yet distant enough to have escaped some of the noise, dust, muck and stench of Duke of Gloucester Street, the main. We ended up spending two nights in the Orrell Kitchen. FYI: Kitchens used to be a separate building from the house back in colonial times.

A significant historical year for this entry is 1775. Recently, our Architectural Preservation team found that the Orrell House was recently dated to c.1761-1763 using dendrochronology, the study of tree ring data! Located near the Williamsburg Inn on Francis Street, the Orrell House was once one of the Colonial Houses available to guests for overnight stays. Unfortunately, due to a condition issue, the building was closed to the public in 2020.
