How do we feel about black kitchen countertops? Keep the old countertop and save money? Or replace in the renovation with everything else? What do I need to consider for this? Opinions on black kitchen cabinets? I'm going with neutral colors to increase future sale ability. I always thought black was considered neutral but contractor disagrees.

He thinks light colors are neutral. He is recommending white cabinets. I was thinking black for cabinets front door and shutters.

We've had painted black cabinets for 8 years and love them, I occasionally clean them with Murphys Oil Soap. We painted over oak with Benjamin Moore classic black semi-gloss water based enamel topped with a coat of water based sealer. I cook alot and we're pretty hard on our kitchen.

I've noticed the white on white on white etc trend for a while but was curious if black on black (not all black, like white walls, different colored flooring) is too much. I personally love some dark areas!

Black will show every smear and spill. Plus I don't think you have enough natural light in that kitchen to offset the darkness black cabinets would create. Consider using black hardware on your current cabinets to give a more modern look perhaps.

Does anyone have experience with a black sink? I'm considering updating to a granite composite black sink, but the Koehler brand I've found at Home Depot has terrible reviews for water spots and scratches. Is there a material that's easy clean and durable? I can't see wiping my sink dry after every single use or my dishes making scratches. Any insights?
